Summer beach vacations can be highly beneficial to rejuvenate our spirits and re-charge our batteries but that salty sea air and scorching UV rays can leave skin stripped of moisture leaving it feeling tight, crinkly and dehydrated. Read these 3 top tips to restore moisture deeply within the skin.

1. Give a thorough Cleanse

Sun protection factor ingredients, whether physical such as titanium dioxide or chemical such as avobenzone are designed to adhere and sit on the surface of the skin rather than be absorbed into the deeper layers of the epidermis.
Giving a thorough cleanse is the first step to ensure these products have been effectively removed.
Double cleansing is industry standard these days which can be enhanced with brush cleansing, ultrasonic blade devices or warm steam to soften the skin and help open the pores.
Consider extending the cleanse behind their ears, back of the neck and even the shoulders.

2. Hydrating Massage

Most hydrating serums are water based and absorb rapidly into the skin. Apply a generous amount of hyaluronic acid based serum PRIOR to your massage medium allowing the product to absorb while massaging the skin.
Focus your movements on specific areas of dehydration such as the cheekbones and forehead. Stimulating friction techniques increase blood flow to nourish and oxygenate the skin from within. The knock on effects will assist in lymph drainage which is vital for a healthy, glowing complexion.

3. Include the Décolleté

The focus of many facials, as the name suggests, is on the face but a complete facial includes the décolleté as the skin is extremely thin in this area of the body and prone to sun damage and premature aging.

Cleansing, exfoliation, massage, masque and moisturizing of this area encourages your clients to do the same at home.

4. Hydrate the Inside

We know the importance of drinking adequate amounts of water, especially during hotter weather when we perspire more, but our cells grab onto water more easily when it contains minerals.
Adding slices of lemon or orange to water is an easy and delicious way to add minerals.
Recommend your clients do this at home too and suggest they rehydrate their bodies by sipping water rather than downing half a pint at a time, the body can absorb it more easily this way.
